Shara Aston Schlitzberger, LPC
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and the Founder and Owner of Carry On Counseling Center, PLLC. I work with individuals ages 8 and up, helping clients navigate anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, grief, relationship and family concerns, parenting challenges, life transitions, and other difficult seasons of life.
Life can be tough, and sometimes we all need a helping hand to get through it. I believe counseling can help people rediscover themselves, strengthen their relationships, find hope, and learn to move forward after difficult experiences. My goal is to provide a warm, genuine, compassionate, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel safe being honest, understood, and supported.
I spent 20 years in education as a school counselor, working with students at every level, including elementary, middle school, junior high, and high school. Through that experience, I developed a deep understanding of the challenges facing children, teenagers, parents, and families. I eventually followed my calling into full-time private practice so I could work more deeply and personally with the people I serve.
I founded Carry On Counseling Center to create a welcoming place where individuals and families could receive compassionate, professional support through life’s mountains and valleys. I have learned how to carry on through many of life’s difficulties myself, and I believe the Lord has called and equipped me to help others do the same.
My specialties include:
● Anxiety and depression
● ADHD
● Trauma and PTSD
● Grief and loss
● Divorce and blended families
● Life transitions
● Parenting support and family struggles
● Family members of individuals struggling with addiction
● Teen and adolescent concerns
● School-related challenges
● Relationship and family concerns
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as my primary approach and am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). EMDR is an evidence-based approach that can help clients process distressing memories and traumatic experiences that may be affecting their ability to live fully in the present. I am able to discuss doing EMDR therapy, as appropriate, for clients ages 16 and up.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in Speech Communication from Texas A&M University, my master’s degree in Counseling from Sam Houston State University, and my doctorate in Educational Leadership from Sam Houston State University. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas.
I see clients ages 9 and up in person at our Pearland office and virtually throughout Texas. Appointments are available during weekday hours and select evenings.
